Texas Jazz Society Presents... Cedar Creek High School Jazz Ensemble and the SAVOY Big Band Cover
Cedar Creek High Jazz Ensemble The Cedar Creek High School Jazz Ensemble is an award-winning big band from Cedar Creek, TX. Featuring 19 students, the group explores everything from Duke Ellington classics to modern-day fusion. Dedicated to the art of swing and the thrill of live performance, they are proud to feature trumpeter Hannibal Lokumbe as a guest artist through the timeless language of jazz. Savoy Big Band The musicians of the Savoy Big Band are a diverse group of professional musicians, music educators, and part-time players from the Austin area joined in common cause to make great music in the tradition of what jazz historians refer to as the Swing Era—a time from the 1930s to 1950s when Big Bands were the popular groups of the day. We perform in the tradition of the great bands such as Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and Artie Shaw. Our goal is simple: to get your feet tapping and have you humming melodies when you leave a performance. This is an ongoing series presented by Parker Jazz Club in conjunction with the Texas Jazz Society to provide opportunities for local area high school programs to perform and raise money for their music programs. 100% of ticket sales go directly back to the high school! All of these concerts are live-streamed for family and friends for free. Please consider helping us support these fine young musicians!
