Join us for an unforgettable tribute to jazz legend and cornetist Nat Adderley as we celebrate what would have been his 93rd birthday, featuring Nat Adderley Jr. and Akina Adderley. Although Nat Adderley is perhaps best known for his work with his brother, Cannonball Adderley, he performed with many legends in jazz during his career, including Lionel Hampton, J.J. Johnson, Woody Herman, and Wes Mongomery, and also contributed to the lexicon of jazz standards with his tune "Work Song". Experience the Adderley legacy in full swing with Nat Adderley Jr., an accomplished pianist and musical director best known for his work with Luther Vandross. Nat wrote and arranged Luther's first Top 20 pop hit, 'Stop to Love,' as well as other iconic songs, including 'Wait for Love' and the Grammy-nominated 'Give Me the Reason.' He also arranged many of Luther's most popular records, such as 'Superstar,' 'Here and Now,' 'If Only for One Night,' 'Creepin',' 'If This World Were Mine,' 'So Amazing,' 'There's Nothing Better Than Love,' 'Never Too Much,' and 'Love Won't Let Me Wait.' Vocalist Akina Adderley, who proudly calls Austin home, has performed all over the city, from massive venues like ACL Live and Stubb's to intimate spots like the Cactus Cafe, as well as at venues across Texas, Los Angeles, New York, and the South. She has performed and recorded with Austin favorites Shinyribs and Jackie Venson and produced two albums and three singles under her own name. She can be seen performing with her band as well as with the popular jazz group Nori. Together, Nat and Akina will bring Nat Adderley's iconic sound to life, blending generations of jazz genius in a night of timeless music and family magic.
