Texas Jazz Society Presents… The Temple Highlighters This is an ongoing series presented by Parker Jazz Club in conjunction with the Texas Jazz Society to provide opportunities for local area high school programs to perform and raise money for their music programs. 100% of ticket sales go directly back to the high school! All of these concerts are livestreamed for family and friends for free. Please consider helping us support these fine young musicians! The Temple Highlighters are the premier jazz ensemble at Temple High School. Temple High School is home to the oldest jazz curriculum in the Texas having been founded in 1952. In the 73-year history of the program, the Highlighters have earned local, regional, state, and national recognitions. Recent awards include National Winner (2021) and Commended (2024) in the National Jazz Honors Project, Featured Ensemble in the 14th Charles Mingus Festival (2022), and National Winner of the Perform With Mintzer Competition Sponsored by Eastman Winds (2022). The ensemble is currently under the direction of Highlighter alumnus Marcos Duran.
